why luve

a bit of us

With luve we would like to provide a sustainable wine alternative to those who care.

In fact, we found out from several researches that about 50% of the climate impact in the wine sector is due to the packaging used and the transportation.

Packaging. Our aluminum cans are 100% recyclable forever, meaning that our cans can be recycled infinitely with no loss of quality, drastically reducing CO2 emissions if compared to other materials (also if compared to glass bottles).

Transportation. With wine into cans, transporting the same volume of wine in cans instead of glass bottles results in about a 50% reduction in CO2 emission. This is due to the weight and volume efficiency of cans.

Because next time you buy wine, you can decide the impact of your choice without compromising the quality.

We thought there were no better places to start than our southern Italian roots: Sicily and Basilicata, lands of authentic wines and passionate winegrowers.

We sourced the first three local varieties from two small producers from Petrosino and Venosa, our co-founders' hometowns.

we started with the same question and are still determining a clear, reasonable answer. But, anyway, we believe in the sustainability, quality, and convenience aspects of wine into cans; thus, we are not that concerned about finding an immediate answer as we think that this question will not last long in our faq.

“le uve”, the grapes in Italian, because when it comes to wine everything starts from there.

glass bottle vs. aluminum can

a few facts

Several researches have been made on this matter. For example, the WBW Exibition, in collaboration with WIC Research, performed a blind test with the aim to have some data on the difference of taste between the same wine from glass battles and cans. They published that 51.1% of blind taste participants, preferred canned wine or found no difference in taste! Another article by Forbes on the same topic, concludes that there are no strong preferences between the identical wine packaged in a can if compared to the same wine packaged in a bottle.

If by any chance you still have some doubts, we invite you to organize a blind taste yourselves and tell us the results of your experiments!

the wines best suitable for cans are basically all the wines that do not need to age into a glass bottle. This correspond to about the majority of wines. This means that the majority of wines are suitable to can guaranteeing the proper quality integrity of such a wines.

Usually, there is not an expiration date for wines into cans like it is for wines into bottles. Anyway, for canned wines there is a "Best Before" date that usually corresponds to one year, depending on the cans used. This indicates that a given canned wine maintains its quality integrity for at least one year after the canning. After that, the given canned wine might lose some of its properties. Similarly, in a way, as the wines into bottles, if they are not wines supposed to age.
